Steve Hargraves: 1999 Belgian Grand Prix

The memory I wish to share is of my first time at a Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend at Spa Francochamps in Belgium. The weekend was magical for many reasons. It was the first time for over a decade it was sunny for the whole weekend, both BAR Honda cars had spectacular crashes on the same part of the circuit leading up to Au Rouge. Both drivers emerging unscathed. The memory I wish to leave is the sight and sound of David Coulthard, his total and utter commitment for a race win and the total and utter commitment and confidence to take one of the most awesome corners in the F1 season flat out without lifting off for every lap, and the roar of his McLaren throughout the race.
