The 2011 Roger Albert Clark Rally, Clubman's stages in Scotland.
Sitting waiting in the sleet at the start in Heathall, Dumfries.
Setting off into the hills for the start of the first stage as the sleet turns to snow and the roads and fields turn white !
14 mile stage through Ae forest, blizzard conditions in places and no traction at all.
A long straight followed by a square left, as entering the apex of the corner we see a fellow competitors car on its roof three quarters across the track, sliding past we end up off the road and deep into a ditch !..
Both sets of crew members were unhurt and we were soon out of our ditch and on our way again- briefly.
A mile further on I went from 3rd to fourth gear on a straight and the car, having no traction, slid again into a ditch.
After being recovered we were allowed to carry on for the rest of the event at the back of the field to get some miles in.
Not another moment all day, even my first time rallying on snow in the dark !
