A Collection of memories of the 2008 British Grand Prix

I remember watching an up and coming young racer in GP2 going into the Beckets Complex third of three cars, racing three abreast and coming out first, sending one Piquet Jnr though the advertising hoarding in the process. The young driver went on to win both GP2 races that weekend. The year was 2006 , the young race was Lewis Hamilton.

Skip forward two years and that young driver has progressed to F1, in the pouring rain he practically lapped the field and won by a huge 68 seconds, a landmark drive on the way to his world championship. Two very sweet memories! How to choose a favourite? Anna Annison

My favourite memory of Silverstone is definitely the Formula 1 race in 2008. Lewis Hamilton was in a class of his own during that race, and the footage of his car driving through the heavy rain showers is an image that is still ingrained in my mind. I am an avid Formula 1 fan and that race is still my favourite. Lewis Hamilton had an amazing start going from 4th to 2nd in one corner and he finished the race over 1 minute in front of the car in 2nd place. To have a British driver win at a British Grand Prix was brilliant and therefore this is without doubt my favourite race. Clare Louise Terry

Lewis Hamilton winning the British Grand Prix in 2008, it was great for Lewis seeing as he was the first Brit to win it since David Coulthard in 2000. 2008 was an amazing year for Lewis, especially after winning the championship. Huge fan of Lewis and this will always remain my favourite Formula 1 victory! It was a difficult race for Lewis but he won it, pleasing many of the fans he had there supporting him. Poppy Hadley

Being there in 2008 in the pouring rain with no coat and only a t shirt didn't matter when watching Lewis dominate the race from start to finish. Even with the little mistake at Farm which I could see from my seat it was still a perfect race! Paul McIver

Lewis Hamilton's victory at Silverstone in 2008. His start, including a few overtakes, resulted on him winning. However the drama of Hamilton along with others leaving the track numerous times provided extra drama and excitement. Hamilton's one minute plus victory showed his skill and nerve during a testing Grand Prix. Ryan McLoughlin

Silverstone July 7th 2008 seeing Lewis Hamilton on the podium so happy and proud of his achievement for British motor sport. Mick Cox
