My first ever trip to Goodwood, on Sunday the 14th of July 2013.
Went with a friend who was going for the first time, had to be up at 5am and we arrived at around 7am. My aim for the day was to meet an F1 driver, past or present, but most importantly it was to have fun! It was a truly memorable experience and the weather was brilliant. The manufacture stands were really good, with my personal favourites being Ford (tanning on the top of theirs) and Nissan (Gran Turismo in an air conditioned room was perfect after going up the hill and back with little shade!).
Got within a couple of metres of Damon Hill, which was incredible, in the F1 paddock. One of the highlights of the day was THAT noise of a modern F1 car. Wow. Sent shivers down our spines, was the first time in 6 years (since race of champions 2007 at Wembley) that I'd experienced the shriek of an F1 car. As the day drew to a close, the only blemish on a near perfect day was not meeting a driver. However, when walking back past the stand and towards the exit gates, a beeping noise alerted us and the words "coming through". We turned around to see the one and only Sir Stirling Moss in a golf cart narrowly missing us! He said "sorry about that" with a slight smirk as he went past! A truly unforgettable moment, and one I'll treasure for the rest of my life!
