Beth: 2013 British Grand Prix

My best memory of Silverstone, and the best memory of my life, was Silverstone 2013.

My mum got me and my dad tickets because it was a few weeks before my 16th birthday. Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are my heroes, idols and inspiration. I've wanted to meet both of them for so many years, and someone on twitter suggested waiting outside the paddock. I did just that, and I met my one of my role models - Lewis Hamilton. He was in a rush and it was obviously a busy weekend for him, with it being the British Grand Prix, but he took those few moments, for me. I had a photo with him and he signed my cap, and spoke a little bit. I don't think anything will ever come close to those few moment I had on Friday June 28th, it was by far the best moment of my life. It still doesn't seem real.

When I didn't think that weekend could get any better, Lewis took pole on the Saturday. The atmosphere and feeling I had at the moment was indescribable, I'd just seen the man I had supported passionately through his career take pole in front of his home crowd. Then on the Sunday, it didn't go as I'd hoped but seeing Lewis fighting his way back through to take 4th place was a privilege to watch.

Nico Rosberg getting the win in what was sort of his home race was so special. Realistically, if Lewis wasn't going to win, I wanted Nico to. He deserved that so much. Silverstone 2013 was the best weekend I have ever had, and it'll take A LOT to top that.
