A Collection of Grand Prix memories

My first F1 weekend: I've been watching Formula 1 regularly since the end of the 1998 season and was incredibly chuffed to learn that F1 was going to Malaysia from the 1999 season. Malaysia is a short flight away from the Philippines and I remember begging my parents to allow me to go (I was 12 years old at the time) but since the race was scheduled when school was still in session, they obviously said no. I begged year after year but never got a yes.

In 2012, after graduating from school and passing the licensure examinations, I'd finally booked a ticket to the Malaysian GP and attended my first GP. And what a race weekend that was. From being able to walk down the pitlane on Friday, to watching the support races on Saturday, and seeing my favourite driver (Alonso) win that exciting race after a long red flag stoppage, I have to say that the 13 year wait was worth it! First time I watched an F1 race was an Australian Grand Prix, opening lap, lights just went out and about 10 seconds into the race, Ralf Schumacher had crashed by missing his braking point and causing absolute mayhem amongst all the drivers. It was simply incredible to watch and to see that such a small mistake can cause havoc. Once the race had restarted, it turned out to be a fantastic race! Peter McAree

Hamilton and Alonso racing side by side through EAU Rouge Belgium Spa flat out. The nerves of a rookie and double world champion, unbelievable. Andy Burrows

I was 60 last October and my Husband arranged for us to got to Barcelona for my first ever Grand Prix. I have faithfully followed F1 since I was a child and I can honestly say that last week end was one of the best in my life. Now we need to save to go to another live race! Stephanie Bradley
